How the calculation works

Your current grade covers the course weight completed before the final. The calculator solves for the score that fills the final's remaining weight.

Example: an 82.5% current grade, a final worth 25%, and a target of 80%. The other 75% of the course contributes 82.5 × 0.75 = 61.9 points, so the final must supply 18.1 of its 25 points, which is 72.5%. This is the same "grade needed" math whether the last assessment is a final exam, a term paper, or a project.
